Invitation to Buckingham Palace Garden Party

Queen Elizabeth has graciously extended an invitation to Prof. Myron Wyn Evans to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on July 20th. in recognition of his contributions to science in Britain and internationally. This follows his appointment to the Civil List in February 2005, and the award to him of armorial bearings in July 2008 and Armiger rank of Gentleman with the coat of arms displayed on this site. This is in effect a recognition of the colleagues with whom Prof. Evans has worked from 1971 when he began his graduate studentship under Prof. Mansel Davies at the Edward Davies Chemical Laboratories in the then University College of Wales Aberystwyth. Prof. Evans's predecessor in chemical physics / physical chemistry on the Civil List was Prof. Michael Faraday, F.R.S. The Faraday Transactions I and II of the Royal Society of Chemistry were for physical chemistry and chemical physics respectively. Prof. Evans was nominated for the Civil List by the Royal Society, supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry, and recommended by the Prime Minister, The Rt. Hon. Tony Blair, M.P. The recommendation was voted in by Parliament and received the Royal assent in 2005.
