FOR POSTING: UFT333 Section 3

Friday, November 27th, 2015

Many thanks again – these effects can be looked for experimentally. The next stage in UFT334 is to incorporate a magnetic field and investigate the effect of discarding the Dirac approximation on the various magnetic effects: Zeeman, anomalous Zeeman, ESR and NMR.

Testing the Dirac Equation

Thursday, November 26th, 2015

I will write one or two essays on this topic, which in my opinion is very important because the rigorous quantization of the hamiltonian of special relativity leads to different spectra that depend on subjective choices as described in UFT329 to UFT333. It has also been discovered that the Dirac approximation leads to an unphysical result, the consequent classical hamiltonian vanishes. This is profoundly unsatisfactory, the foundations of relativistic quantum mechanics are subjective. The Dirac equation can be obtained form Cartan geometry, but having obtained it, these problems still exist. Only by questioning do we perceive the truth as Peter Abelard wrote (1079 – 1142), the eldest son of a noble Breton Family, born in le Pallet Britanny. He got into trouble by proposing this outrageous idea. Nothing has changed in a thousand years.

FOR POSTING : Final Version of UFT333 Sections 1 and 2

This is the final version with a missing is reinstated in Eq. (18), and correct signs in eqs. (22), (25) and (28). The final spectra depend on a subjective choice of classical kinetic energy, a function or H atom expectation value. This means that there is a crisis in physics because the Dirac equation is no longer foundational. It is also emphasized as in preceding papers that the Dirac approximation is unphysical, it leads to zero for the classical hamiltonian. Obviously the classical hamiltonian is not confined to zero, in general it can take any constant value. Some people may answer that the Dirac approximation works, and has done for nearly ninety years. It MAY work, the hyperfine spectra to prove or disprove this assertion are not available however. Even if it does work we do not know why.

Discussion of UFT333 Sections 1 and 2

Thursday, November 26th, 2015

Many thanks! This is correct, there should be sign changes in Eqns. (25) and (28), so the usual result is multiplied by A. I will repost the final version.

I wonder why the spin orbit energy (25) is negative here while it is positive in my eqs. (44,45) in paper 332. According to Wikipedia it is positive and this is probably correct because the 2 P 1/2 term must lie below 2 P 3/2 which also comes out in my diagrams in this way.

Could you list all classes of Hamiltonian in the paper? It would be difficult to read if too much info is only available in the notes.

I will go ahead with this today, it is on the evaluation of the Class One hamiltonian of the Dirac equation without approximation, essentially refuting the philosophy of the Dirac equation, and much of contemporary quantum field theory, QED and QCD.
